About the artist
Eamon Wyss is a Melbourne-based artist whose passion for Australia’s ephemeral salt lakes drives his unique approach to fine art drone photography. With a background in interactive event production, user experience design, and low-fi video art, Eamon fuses these diverse skills into a distinctive style of visual storytelling.
Eamon’s creative approach blurs the line between nature and art, transforming natural landscapes into abstract compositions without altering their original colour or form. By focusing solely on framing, he allows the land’s innate beauty to tell its own story, preserving the integrity of the natural environment while still achieving a powerful artistic vision.
His main inspiration comes from aboriginal dot-paintings he encountered in the Australian desert as a boy - works that map both the physical and spiritual contours of the land as seen from above. Similarly, Eamon uses the drone’s top-down perspective to reveal a deeper storytelling within the landscape itself.
What began as a simple question five years ago — Can I take photographs that look and feel like paintings?— has since become a guiding thread in Eamon’s practice. Each year, he continues to refine this approach, offering a fresh and evocative interpretation of traditional landscape photography. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions and art fairs across Australia, and held in private collections around the world.
